2010 T-HT Conference

The third T-HT Conference Growing through Knowledge was held on September 28, 2010 at the Hypo Expo Center in Zagreb, gathering numerous guests from the Croatia’s business, political and intellectual world, but also the best students from faculties with which HT has been cooperating for many years as well as employees. Guided by the idea of the significance of knowledge for the growth and development of every individual but also society as a whole, the T-HT conference hosted two interesting experts and speakers in 2010: the world-renowned thinker and speaker Professor Jeremy Rifkin, an economist, social commentator and the founder and president of the Foundation on Economic Trends, and Dr. Nicholas Christakis, a physician and renowned expert in researching social networks, both personal and online, and their impact on attitudes, conduct and emotions.

In the first part of last year’s T-HT conference, Professor Jeremy Rifkin spoke about the emergence of an empathic civilization, the evolution of the human race, ways in which evolution has influenced our development and how it will influence our survival on earth. Dr. Nicholas Christakis spoke in the second part of the conference about the impact of social networks on practically all aspects of our lives – how we feel, who we vote for, how much we earn, who we fall in love with – everything is linked to what others around us are doing, the way they think, how they feel.

“In a year full of challenges, with continued intensive turmoil and changes, we would like to draw the public’s attention to the questions where we are at and where we are heading as mankind. We believe that by encouraging people to become aware of the role each one of us plays in the society we live and act in we can influence the definition of a joint future. In the first place, we want to start with ourselves and encourage the exchange of knowledge, ideas, visions, actions for a better tomorrow… for a tomorrow with a better coexistence and more compassion…”, said Ivica Mudrinić, the Management Board president and CEO of T-HT.

By bringing in world-renowned speakers, the T-HT conference places an emphasis on new technologies and content, but also on the importance of vision, ideas, innovations and guidelines for the future and the importance of knowledge exchange as one of the drivers of the growth of individuals, but also society as a whole.
