In the Republic of Croatia, protection of personal data in electronic communications is primarily regulated by the Personal Data Protection Act and the Electronic Communications Act.
In addition to observance of this legal framework, Hrvatski Telekom, being a part of the Deutsche Telekom Group, also applies additional corporate rules and procedures based on EU personal data protection regulations (Directive on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data(95/46/EC) and the Directive concerning the processing of personal data and the protection of privacy in the electronic communications sector (2002/58/EC)).
In its operations, Hrvatski Telekom applies the „ Binding corporate rules for the protection of personal rights in the handling of personal data within the Deutsche Telekom Group (i.e. Binding Corporate Rules Privacy - BCRP).
Binding Corporate Rules Privacy defines the conduct of Hrvatski Telekom or, respectively, the employees of Hrvatski Telekom in the processing of personal data of customers, shareholders, employees and partners, as well as the rights of these persons to the protection of their personal data. Binding Corporate Rules Privacy is aligned with requirements set forth in Croatian regulations; it aims to create a consistent and high level of personal data protection within the Deutsche Telekom Group that goes beyond statutory obligations.
