Hrvatski Telekom donates HRK 540,000 for nine socially responsible projects throughout Croatia

4.9.2013

Hrvatski Telekom donates HRK 540,000 for nine socially responsible projects, selected through the contest “Together We Are Stronger”.

With this valuable donation program, HT for the eighth consecutive year reinforces its firm commitment to socially responsible business behavior. Hrvatski Telekom is a company that promotes sustainable development, aims to establish high standards of communication, encourages the inclusion into the information and knowledge society, and takes a leading role in recognizing the importance of environmental protection.

HT brings these values into its donation contest “Together We Are Stronger” and, in line with them, defines the categories which the applied projects must be harmonized with: top-line communication possibilities in private life and work, inclusion into the digital and knowledge society, and creation of a society with lower greenhouse gas emissions.
The added value of this contest is a longtime joint involvement of HT and its employees to achieve a program that contributes to improving the quality of life in Croatia. This year, along with the Committee and employees, the online community was also included into the proposition and selection of projects. Thus, the contest fully confirmed its strength and the purpose of its name – “Together We Are Stronger”.

Project Flow
After the 18 finalists of the donation contest “Together We Are Stronger” had presented their projects to a broader public on the contest web page, the online community selected the donation winners. The total budget of the contest amounting to HRK 540,000, i.e. HRK 180,000 per category, was distributed to nine selected projects.

The project was implemented fully online: project applications were submitted in June; the first selection round was conducted by the Expert Committee comprised of the representatives of UNICEF, UNDP, Transparency International, Center for the Employment of Invalids of the City of Vukovar, and Hrvatski Telekom; the second selection round was conducted by the employees of the whole HT Group in July; the third selection round took place in August, when the whole online community had the opportunity to vote for projects.

The donation awarding process was successful in encouraging and involving a broader social community and in motivating project owners to actively participate in their own promotion.

The online project implementation confirms that the HT Group is focused on digital society development and on transformation into an e-company. The project Facebook page was liked by 22,000 persons during the contest.
