The mobile broadband 4G network of Hrvatski Telekom is fully ready for 4G smartphones which will make it possible for users to talk, send SMS messages and to enjoy the benefits of super-fast data transmission - all this being the result of several months of intensive investments into the fourth-generation network infrastructure. HT will commercially offer the possibility to use 4G smartphones in its network vey soon.
So far, users have already enjoyed the benefit of super-fast surfing in HT's 4G network - with Extreme Mobile net tariffs facilitating data transmission via laptops and tablets. Thanks to the network upgrade HT will also offer services which will integrate data transmission, voice and SMS.
“Customers are always in the focus of all our activities and we would like to provide as many customers as possible with the exciting experience awaiting them on 4G smartphones, the key prerequisite for this being an adequate, reliable and available infrastructure. We have provided our customers with by far the highest availability of the fast 4G network in Croatia, we have also put considerable efforts into achieving the best call, data transmission and SMS quality. A very high quality of our network is one of the key factors which ensure the superior quality of the services provided by HT to its customers, which is why we regularly perform voice and data measurements. These measurements show that our mobile network is the best in Croatia with regard to all most important parameters“, said Boris Batelić, Operating Director of the Services and Network Systems Development Sector in HT.
According to the research done by Cisco*, by 2016, data traffic will increase globally at the annual rate of as much as 78 percent. In 2016, global data transmission traffic is expected to exceed 10 exabytes (109 gigabytes) per month. This will spur development of new services, which will in turn make life considerably easier. Some of these services, e.g. m-health, cloud service and new generation television such as MAXtv To Go are already well known, but they will reach their full potential only in a fourth-generation network, for instance, m-health will make it possible for patients to have regular follow-ups after major surgery from their home, without the need for direct contact with a physician or travelling.
HT has the largest 4G network population coverage and has been continuously working on its expansion. It was the first company in Croatia and among the first companies in the region and Europe to put the LTE-based 4G network into commercial operation. Over the last few months, before offering 4G advanced smartphones and services for 4G network to its customers, HT has ensured large availability of the network. More than 50 percent of the inhabitants of Zagreb, a large portion of the inhabitants of Split, Osijek and Rijeka can now surf the Internet with the speeds of up to 75 Mbit/s.
