Hrvatski Telekom wins two international IPRA Golden World Awards for the "Tools for Modern Times" program

Tools for Modern Times, an educational program by Hrvatski Telekom and the University of Zagreb's Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences, which helps children and young people grow up more safely and responsibly in a digital environment, has won two prestigious international Golden World Awards presented by the International Public Relations Association (IPRA). The Program was named best in the categories of Corporate Social Responsibility and Environment, Society, and Governance, standing out among projects from around the world. It is also the second consecutive year that HT has received two IPRA awards, further confirming the company's consistent commitment to implementing projects that deliver real social value.
The Golden World Awards are among the most prestigious global public relations recognitions. Since 1990, IPRA has been awarding projects that demonstrate innovation, creativity, and social impact. This year, some of the world's largest companies, brands, and agencies from across Europe, North and South America, Asia, and Africa competed for the award. The winners were selected by a jury of renowned experts from around the globe, including representatives from companies, agencies, associations, institutions, and universities.
Tools for Modern Times was developed as a national prevention program for upper-grade elementary school students. Through a series of educational workshops for children and lectures for parents and teachers, the Program helps children and youth develop the social and emotional skills needed to navigate the challenges of the digital environment – from recognizing online dangers to building confidence, empathy, and responsible online behavior.
So far, the Program has covered more than 5,600 students and trained 452 facilitators across over 205 schools in Croatia. Results show a tangible impact – children are more aware of online risks, communicate more effectively, and navigate the digital space more safely.
"This award holds special meaning for us as it confirms that Tools for Modern Times has a real and lasting positive impact, not only in schools, but also within families and the wider community. We are equipping children with essential knowledge and skills for safer and more responsible behavior in the digital world, and providing parents and teachers with a better understanding of the challenges of growing up today. We are proud that the international expert community has recognized the efforts we are making to drive positive change and build a stronger, more resilient, and more conscious society," said Igor Vukasović, Corporate Communications Director at Hrvatski Telekom.
The Program has already been recognized both nationally and internationally. Earlier this year, it won the international SABRE Award for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region, as well as a national award from the Ministry of Science for its scientific and expert work in education for the year 2024. These latest IPRA recognitions are yet further proof that Tools for Modern Times has a lasting social impact, particularly in the areas of education, children's mental health, and strengthening the community's digital literacy.
