During the second day of Combis Conference in Novi Vinodolski, in co-organization of Croatian Web Developers Association CROWD and Combis, the Fight Club event was held. This event was conceived as a clash of ideas, products, technologies, providers in identical or similar niches, which represent opposing teams. The topic of the Conference Fight Club "Original vs. Copy" has inspired vigorous debate between, on one side, the journalist and producer Željka Ogresta and blogger Marko Rakar, and on the other side, scientist Zorislav Šojat and plastic surgeon Mario Zambelli. The Fight Club was moderated by Ida Prester.
Different views were expressed on copyright, piracy, China as the largest producer of fake products, plastic surgery, open source ethics, digital photography, etc. Among other things, the opposing sides tried to provide answers to questions like: 'Can we recognize a copy today, and can it sometimes beat the original?', 'Where the influence stops and plagiarism begins?', 'Do we believe in copy same as in original?', 'Are we aware of the value of copyright? and finally, 'Are we the society that values more the original or a copy?'.
Opposing teams were equally passionate for their thesis, so the audience had a hard time to decide which of them was more successful in defending positions. "This is a game without winners, which is logical because it is not possible in less than an hour to reach the ultimate truth. However, it is essential that we heard some interesting thesis, encouraged people to think and, while having fun at the same time, which is the Fight Club's goal." - said Lili Rodić, president of the CROWD and conceptual creator of the event.
In CROWD's organization by now two Fight Clubs were held. This one is unique because this is the first time that CROWD is a guest at the ICT Conference, which, judging by the reactions of the participants, proved to be a real hit.
"Every year we strive to further improve Combis Conference and, by creating a unique content, to justify the high expectations of business and ICT community. Fight Club as already recognized, but still new and fresh business-technology format, ideally fitted into this year's Conference which was whole under the sign of innovations." – said Renée Saboti Slovenec, Combis Conference director.
