The representatives of HT and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing of the University of Zagreb signed today a new Frame Contract on cooperation in the field of scientific, research and development activities aimed at promoting transfer of knowledge and ideas between science and economy within specific projects, thus continuing long-time tradition and HT's major project of long-term cooperation with the Croatian academic community launched in 2006. Today's Frame Contract with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER), worth 6 million kunas, was signed for a period of five years by the President of the Management Board of Croatian Telecom Ivica Mudrinić and Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing Vedran Mornar.
The agreed cooperation includes the following activities: monitoring work and progress of talented students, organization and implementation of specialist programs, participation of HT's experts as full-time and visiting lecturers at FER, study visits to HT, enhancement and profiling of undergraduate and postgraduate curricula in the part of elective courses covering telecommunication systems. HT will continue to award prizes to the best students for a previous academic year and support students at international student competitions, while FER will develop projects and studies for HT's needs and educate HT's employees in the field of new technologies. To put it briefly, the purpose of this cooperation is to contribute to strategic development goals of the contracting parties and to development of their employees' competencies.
A number of experienced scientists from the Faculty are involved in realization of the project, together with junior researchers (mainly from the Institute for Telecommunications and Department of Applied Computing), scientists and experts from HT, especially those enrolled in postgraduate studies at the subject faculty. During the previous period of cooperation, started in 2006 by signing a frame contract in the value of 3.6 million kunas, as much as 85% planned resources were realized. Funds for improvement of faculty library have been granted additionally.
HT also strongly supported, as a separate project, the initiative and then introduction and implementation of a joint specialist postgraduate study at FER, in cooperation with the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb, titled “Regulation of the Market of Electronic Communications“.

It is important to permanently foster awareness that the exchange of ideas, knowledge and visions is a tool for shaping our joint future and higher quality life“, said Ivica Mudrinić, President of the Management Board of Croatian Telecom.

The synergy of excellence will certainly yield benefits to the company and the institution, as well as the whole community“, said Prof.D.Sc.Vedran Mornar, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing.
Apart from long-term cooperation with FER, HT has also established several years' cooperation with the Faculty of Law in Zagreb. Cooperation is also planned with other faculties and universities, as interesting potential pools of high quality staff and know-how for the Company.
In 2009, the Group expanded the already existing project of T-Mobile and announced a competition for HT scholarship. Among excellent candidates from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb, the Faculty of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Split and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Osijek, 11 seniors were selected who not only fulfill their faculty obligations and have excellent results in their studies, but are also interested in a number of other things, i.e. show maturity, versatility and motivation for achievements and personal success. Five of them has recently been employed at HT.
By affirming the link of the Croatian economy and national scientific institutions for the purpose of long-term development, HT confirms once again, as the leading company on the Croatian market, its responsibility for development of the society as a whole.
