The winner of the roman@tportal.hr award is Drago Glamuzina and his novel „Three“. This most profitable literary award in Croatia amounting to HRK100,000 net has been founded by one of the most influential and best visited internet portals, www.tportal.hr.
Altogether five novels were shortlisted for the literary award of the best Croatian novel published in 2008: Renato Baretić, 'The Grand Hotel', Drago Glamuzina, 'Three', Sanja Lovrenčić, 'Martin's Strings' , Robert Međurečan, 'Selling Medals, First Owner', Dubravka Ugrešić, ' Jaga, the Old Hag, Laid an Egg'
As many as 53 valid applications had been received for the award while eligible candidates were the authors and publishers of all novels written in Croatian and published by Croatian publishers in the course of the last year.
The award winner was decided by an expert jury of independent professionals in the area of literature composed of Jadranka Pintarić (Chairperson), Alida Bremer, Tomislav Brlek, Gordan Duhaček, Slaven Jurić, Igor Mandić and Miroslav Mićanović.
„Avoiding both the analysis of moral aspects of adultery and the deep psychoanalysis of characters, the novel is focused on story-telling examination of structural potential of clinical picture of psychopathology in our daily life.
Among other qualities, Drago Glamuzina's novel „Three“ stands out not only from the works published this year, but also the works of the entire recent period for its literary persuasiveness showing that the genre of confessional prose and (quasi)autobiographical prose can stimulate reflection about story-telling forms“ explains the jury.
The award ceremony was held in Profil Megastore within the Zagreb Book Fair.
