This year 53 applications have been received for the roman@tportal.hr literary award, which was initiated by the Internet portal www.tportal.hr last year.
By the end of March the jury of the roman@tportal.hr literary award, the most profitable award in Croatia amounting to HRK 100,000 net, will decide on the long list of candidates, i.e. 11 novels which will enter semi-finals.
The jury is composed of independent professionals in the area of literature: Jadranka Pintarić (president), Alida Bremer, Tomislav Brlek, Gordan Duhaček, Slaven Jurić, Igor Mandić and Miroslav Mićanović. When selecting the jury members, proper account was taken to involve authors and reviewers of various literary tastes and ages.
Meanwhile, texts on all received candidatures, registered novels, authors’ biographies and interviews as well as texts by jury members referring to a number of current topics – such as reception of the modern novel, autobiographical elements in novel, Croatian novel in the context of world literature – will be published on the official page of the literary award, at the address roman.tportal.hr, while Jadranka Pintarić, president of the jury, will write about her experience of working as a jury member last year.
The roman@tportal.hr literary award will be granted to the author of the best national novel published in 2008.
The founder of the award is tportal. The award will be granted at the Zagreb Book Fair in May 2009.
