For the second year in a row, the Internet portal www.tportal.hr initiated a competition for the literary award roman@tportal.hr, the most profitable one in Croatia, in the net amount of as much as 100,000 Kuna.
The roman@tportal.hr literary award shall be granted to an author of the best Croatian novel published in 2008 (from January 1 2008 until December 31 2008), and candidates can apply for the competition from February 12 to 23 2009 on the sub-site of the literary award at the internet address of roman.tportal.hr – one spot containing all the necessary information about the competition, actual data about its progress and authors.
Also, the jury shall reserve the right to invite authors, or publishers, to report the novels that in their opinion need to be included in the competition, and that have not been reported for the competition.
The decision on the prize winner shall be passed by the expert jury of independent professionals in the area of literature composed of: Jadranka Pintarić (president), Alida Bremer, Tomislav Brlek, Gordan Duhaček, Slaven Jurić, Igor Mandić and Miroslav Mićanović. The selection of the jury members took into account the concept to involve authors and reviewers of various literary tastes and ages.
The prize was established by tportal, and it shall be granted during Zagreb Book Fair, on May 21 2009, in the bookstore of Profil Megastore in Zagreb.
Decisions shall be made by the jury in three rounds. The long list of candidates, 11 titles, shall be published by the end of March, and the short listed candidates, final five titles, shall be published by the beginning of May 2009.
The novels previously awarded with a certain literary award can participate in the competition, and the prize can be applied for by authors, or publishers of all the novels written in Croatian and published by Croatian publishers during 2008.
The roman@tportal.hr award was established last year and won by Dalibor Šimpraga for the novel titled „Anastasia“ competing among as many as 57 novels.
