Dalibor Šimpraga won the roman@tportal.hr prize for his novel “Anastasia”. He received the award in Profil Megastore as a part of the Zagreb Book fair on Thursday evening. The most lucrative literature award in Croatia in the amount of HRK 100,000 net was established by one of the most influential and most visited Internet portals, www.tportal.hr
Five novels were short-listed for the award for the best Croatian novel published in 2007. These were: ‘Mirna ulica, drvored’(Quiet street, tree-lined street) by Nada Gašić, ‘Grad u zrcalu’ (City in the mirror) by Mirko Kovač, ‘Tragom zmijske košuljice’ (On the snake skin trail) by Josip Mlakić, ‘Oči’ (Eyes) by Edo Popović and ‘Anastasia’ by Dalibor Šimpraga and there were 57 valid applications received for the prize competition. The contestants could be either authors or publishers of all novels written in Croatian and published by Croatian publishers during the last year. The decision on the prize winner was made by a jury of independent literature experts comprising Miroslav Mićanović (President), Alida Bremer, Tomislav Brlek, Ana Grbac, Igor Mandić, Jadranka Pintarić and Roman Simić Bodrožić. According to the audience choice that voted on T-portal for the best novel of the year the best novel is “Oči” by Edo Popović.
