The first Minival, held under the sponsorship of T-Mobile, had its closing night in the Zagreb club Tvornica after the three-month presentation of demo bands. Due to great interest, instead of the planned 27 bands, no less than 39 were presented, among which the prize-awarding committee selected the eight best, which were given one more opportunity to present their music in Tvornica. During the final two Minival evenings the Zagreb audience enjoyed for the second time the music of the following bands: Spina, Kimiko, Klaus, Justin's Johnson, Oprosti, The Orange Strips, The Rock Flock and S3ngs.
"By participating in this project, T-Mobile, as a company supporting music through sponsorships, wanted to encourage talented performers from the demo scene by providing them with the opportunity to present their music to wider public. At the same time we wanted to bring closer our young customers to new music trends – to something they really like and care about. We even took it one stop further and offered on T-Zones pages ring and real tones of the songs performed at Minival," said Lordan Kondić, Director of Marketing Communications in T-Mobile.
Ida Prestar, chairwoman of the prize-awarding committee, said: "It was very hard to decide who deserved one more chance on the stage. The demo scene "hides" a large number of high quality bands, as clearly shown at Minival, but young bands need support in their first steps towards affirmation. Therefore I am extremely happy that T-Mobile recognized and supported this project and, by doing so, made it much easier for these bands to approach public. I am very glad to have taken part in the first Minival and to have heard the bands live performances. I am sure that we will hear more from some of the bands who performed at Minival."
As the general sponsor, T-Mobile provided the bands with the opportunity to additionally present themselves in sponsored radio shows T-Mobile Music Factory (Otvoreni radio) and Cener plus (Radio 101).
Minival started on 29 February and lasted for 11 weeks – every Friday several young bands playing different types of music and coming from all over Croatia were presented. The best bands were given the opportunity to present their music once again during the two final nights.
