Support to the project of the association Latin sail

Recognizing the importance of preservation of the local tradition, customs and old crafts, T-HT financially supported the association Latin sail for construction of the typical Kornati sailing boat and the opening of the School of crafts in Murter

At the International Sports and Nautical Fair 2007, from 21 to 25 February took place at the Zagreb Fair, the program of association Latin sail Murter-Betina was presented on 22 February. Display was prepared by the representatives of the association, prof. Vladimir Skračić and Mile Jadrešić who delivered the lecture “World of the Latin sail” in the conference room Kumrovec of the congress centre at the Zagreb Fair.

Visitors could look at the wooden school boat in construction, called Kurnatarica, which represents a crucial part of activities of this association. Among the goals of association is also preservation of local tradition, customs and old crafts, and that is to be accomplished also by project construction of traditional Kornati sailing boat for primary school "Murterski škoji", and the opening of the School of crafts in Murter in which the skills of construction of traditional floating vessel would be passed onto young generations. Kurnatarica is 6,6 meter long, 1/3 of length wide a draft of about 65 centimeters.

It is made of several kinds of quality timber and driven by the Latin sail and ores. By end September it will take part in the 10th regatta Latin sail, which is taking place in the waters of Murter from the year 1998 in which traditional boats from many countries take part.
